Gun sales resuming at Wal-Mart

In Bad news on May 1, 2011 at 11:51 am

“Wal-Mart stopped selling guns and ammo at most of its U.S. stores five years ago but is now stocking up on firearms and nearly half of its 3,600 U.S. locations. Spin doctors at the corporation claim this is part of a larger focus on “heritage categories” — fishing rods and bolts of sewing fabric that were cut out of aisles as the discounter tried to appear more upscale.”

From a news item on the MSN web site. Definitely a bad sign about the collapse of civilization.

May Day. May Day.

  1. Oh dear, oh dear. Will they never learn? And dressing it up as a return to ‘Heritage categories’ just sickens me.

  2. Watch out sister, watch out brother,
Watch our children while they kill each other
With a gun they bought at Wal-mart discount stores.

  3. Those are lyrics from a Sheryl Crow album, which was not sold in Walmart because of them. I had no idea that she was serious. Good grief.

  4. “… Definitely a bad sign about the collapse of civilization.”

Or perhaps the defense of it! Are you going to stop the bad huys with spitballs? I hear WalMart has some of the best ammo prices around. I’ll have to swing by on the way home.

  5. Taking cover. Either because I just dug up a bed which my wife just planted (which she told me to dig but denies she did) or because I don’t want to spook you on your way home.
